Cole James Custom Builders was founded in 2013 right here in Barnegat, NJ — but the story starts long before that. Construction runs in the family. Growing up around contractors in a small shore town, you learn fast that your name is everything. There's no hiding behind a corporate logo when your neighbors are your clients and your reputation travels faster than any ad ever could.
That upbringing shaped how we run every job. We started because we believed homeowners on the Jersey Shore deserved a builder who actually communicated, showed up on time, and took pride in the work — not just the paycheck. In a tight-knit community, you don't get a second chance to make it right. So we make it right the first time.
We also never stop learning. Every new building product, every advancement in construction efficiency, every smarter approach to framing, insulation, or systems integration — we're on it. Not because it's trendy, but because our clients deserve a home built with the best methods available today, not the habits of twenty years ago.
Over 200 homes later, we're still family-owned, still the same tight-knit crew, still answering our own phones. What started on the Jersey Shore has grown — we now serve clients across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. In a small town, your word is your bond — and we intend to keep ours no matter where the job takes us.
